Will one stamp be enough?

I’m sending a letter to from Michigan to California. I’ve been sending them, but this one seems thicker. Its not the business envelope, so I have to fold the papers both horizontally and vertically to fit it in the envelope. It has 2 pieces of notebook paper in it and a cut up sheet of computer paper that’s folded as well. I looked it up and it’s supposed to be 1 oz. According to a website, apparently 5 quarters equal an ounce so I compared the letter to the weight of the quarters, and the quarters felt heavier. But I do not know if that is accurate or not. Will I need more than one stamp or should I be fine? Thanks guys.

You need to take it to the Post Office and weigh it on one of their machines. They have new rules: if it’s over 1/4″ thick, there are different rates. So it’s not only, How much does it weigh, but also, How thick is it? The machine will tell you the postage, depending on your answers to these questions.
